Ten years later, DB&B Financial Services became entirely owned and operated as an independent entity and changed the name to Blue Ocean Strategic Capital, LLC. Our continuous dedication to high-quality service along with a client-centric approach has allowed the company to grow significantly and we now provide planning and asset management for individuals, retirement plans and charitable organizations in fifteen states.

Why the Name Blue Ocean Strategic Capital, LLC?
It begins with a book, Blue Ocean Strategy: How to Create Uncontested Market Space and Make the Competition Irrelevant, by W. Chan Kim and Renee Mauborgne of INSEAD, an international business school.
The concept of Blue Ocean Strategy involves creating a new market space through innovation, instead of competing head-on with other companies in the same industry. By doing things differently, and creating a new value for a product or service, a company can effectively eliminate the competition that would otherwise be faced in the Red Ocean.
The principal theme is to develop your business, no matter what business it might be, from being one of the pack to one that stands out. Your business changes from swimming in the red ocean with your competitors (the sharks) to swimming in the blue ocean where opportunities abound because you are alone in offering a new value. The authors reject the outdated concept that a business can succeed only by either reducing costs or differentiating their product or service, arguing that both can be attained simultaneously.
